Slugs

I picked up a lee 1 oz slug mold last week to fill an excess of hulls I have lying around. having never cast for a shotgun, I wanted to ask what type of alloy I should use?

I would have to agree !!!

Zero experience talking but I believe typically slugs are pure or real close to pure.
This has been my experience and I have tested them, to make a comparison. When I range-mine and find slugs or what's left of them, I devote these to running lead for M/L's. ...... :)

Be Safe !!!

Slugs are generally cast with pure lead. If you need better fill-out, add 2% tin, or so.

You can, of course, cast them with whatever alloy you want. But once you get a larger enough chunk of lead hitting a target, the hardness doesn't matter much. It still puts a major hurtin' on the target, penetrates well, and the slugs usually hold together well on anything but super-hard targets (blocks of concrete, thick steel plates, etc.).
