Sling Recommendation for Mossberg 500 & 590A1 For Home Defense?

Can you folks suggest any particular sling makes/models for a home defense Mossberg 500 and 590A1? The main purpose would be to avoid having to put the shotgun down to have hands free or to draw a handgun (not for carrying the gun long distances over the shoulder). My research has shown that the two models are not interchangeable when it comes to slings. Also, I do not want the sling to negate the mounting of a bayonet on the 590A1. Lastly, the 500 has the Surefire forend. Thank you in advance.

He's trying to be "Tacti Cool" OneOunce ......come on man .....somebody has to kill all those zombies....and I'd rather it be him than me...

Surefire, Bayonet, Sling...its good to have toys ... ( I don't have any / and I don't know anything about shotgun slings ..) .....I'm just running my mouth ...

Somebody will pop up with serious answers for you .....

Yep BigJim, I WAS being serious, at least about sing the search function - there's been some threads about slings and how bad they are for HD as they snag and cause issues......but bayonets? aw, GEEZ.......:barf:

A sling on a shotgun has its uses -- but for home defense, not so much, I'd say. Unless you have a specific situation (such as kids down the hall) that requires you to move around, if you have an intruder, you should be hunkering down in the bedroom or other safe room, not trying to "clear the house." There's no need for a sling if you're stationary, and if you absolutely have to move around, in close quarters a sling can catch on stuff, and generally be one more thing to fuss with...

The bayonet would be right behind your neck, i.e. sub-optimal.
Nah. With one of those three-point tacticool slings, the muzzle will be pointing down and the bayonet will be right next to his... Never mind. :p

My "serious" 870s have two point sling studs, but the sling's not kept on. Just something to catch on things at a horribly wrong time.

But, in case it DOES hit the fan and we have to militia things up, there's slings nearby.

Inside, a sling's a hazard, Outside, indispensable.

two point sling for jujst the thing you described you didn't want.

you;re not going to be killing Zombies and you don't need the bayonet. Period.

if you're concerned with using the shotgun enough to need a silly Bayo and having to switch to a primary, join the military and see what they use. even there it's far fetched.
