I finally picked up my slightly used Vaquero, and hope to be able to shoot it tomorrow... Not a mark on it. Broke it down, cleaned, and lubed... :D

Very nice...it is a LC...you can tell hence the .45 CAL stamp on the box and especially seeing those weird crimps about halfway down the cases on the ammo you show.

Mind if i ask what it set ya back?

Jeffro250,
I realized those were .45LC shells in front of the gun, just curious if the pistol was .45 too. I own several .45LC pistols. I don't buy Winchester ammo, but the only other ammo I've seen with the strange crimp was from Magtech in Brazil. Perhaps they are making ammo for Winchester. I still love the Stainless Rugers. Must purchase one soon. They sell for between $389 and $420 around here.

Very nice Bullrock! My .44 Mag stainless has been getting kinda lonely, maybe I should send it up there for some socializing! :) No, really gorgeous gun--you will enjoy. Yes to stainless Rugers!

I have 4 boxes of .45 Colt Cowboy Loads coming from Magtech. Their Cowboy ammo comes highly recommended... :)

I just got back from the range where I put 100 rounds through my almost new Vaquero. 50 bench rest, 50 two handed. At 25 yards, I had 1 inch groupings and five bulls. I also threw some in the white. Generally not bad for a tired old fart with bad eyes...The Vaquero is a very good shooting revolver... :D

I have used Magtech many times. I like it and it seems to be very accurate. My range sells it for a pretty good price when I run out of my home brew stuff. If it was cheaper, I would use even more of it.

I hope Magtech ammo is going to turn out cleaner than those Winchester loads I shot today. Many thanks for the info... ;)

AFAIK, Sellier and Bellott (sp) has been making Winchester cartridges of late. Winchester, Remington and even POJ American Ammunition have been trying to keep up with GSA and military orders for production. I wonder if S&B isn't recycling powder, it stinks and it smokes. The Mag-Tech has been marginally better. I started having my cartridges custom made by a local reloader. It is worth it. I had some Ruger Vaqueros and I enjoyed them. My 44-40s needed quite a little sum of cash, time and travel back and forth to become accurate. I found out that my blued/CCH 44-40s with Ruger eagle faux ivory grips were rare and I retired them. I really like the older Sheriff models in stainless. I did find that heavy recoil caused the cylinder pin to creep forward though. www.beltmountain.com www.powercustom.com

especially seeing those weird crimps

That be a "cannelure"

Bull,
1 inch @ 25 yards = a keeper.
Rugers in .45 Colt aren't something that will ever be confused with a Bullseye gun. I noticed in another thread you were considering dumping it. My advice is don't. Somebody probably invested a few bucks into having the chamber mouths reamed.
.45Colt Rugers are notorious for having mismatched mouths/forcing cone.

My .45LC Blackhawk is ok in that department. It's not a "tack driver", but it's not really meant to be. I doubt if mine will do an inch @ 25. Probably more like twice that. If it had a longer barrel I'd consider having it reamed, but Ohio has a barrel length restriction on handguns for hunting, and the 4 5/8" barrel on my Blackhawk is too short.
