slight problem with grip on gen 4 Glock

I have the medium back strap on my gen 4 21. I've only taken it to the range once. I was fondling it the other day when I noticed the 'problem'.

Gripping the gun with my right hand firmly I can feel and hear the back strap 'click' over to the right, and then I can see a gap open up between the frame and back strap on the left. It's a bit annoying to feel that click of the back strap shifting/sliding every time I grip the gun.

It is properly installed on the bottom, and has the pin in place.

Has anyone else had this problem? Should I call Glock and ask for a replacement back strap?

I can handle the recoil of the gun best with this back strap in place, so I don't want to remove it or go with the one with the beaver tail. It really does bug me and I'm guessing it will only get worse...:D

I talked to a boy at a local shop who had a similar story, except his kept popping off when he quickly grasped the grip in a draw.

My SIG grips used to "pop" at the back seam, sort of as you describe. It really wasnt anything detrimental, other than being annoying. I solved it by taking the grips apart and putting double sided tape on the joint, which stopped them moving. Perhaps something like that under the back strap might also work.

An update for anyone who would like to know. I contacted Glock, they responded and said they would send out a new set of back straps to me. I hope that takes care of it and that it's not an issue with the frame. :)

Another solution, if needed, would be to apply a little silicone adhesive under the backstrap when installed. This will keep the backstrap from moving about, but will NOT be permanent. (The backstrap can be pulled off without damage and the adhesive peeled off of the frame with no damage.)

I used Permatex black adhesive silicone to secure the backstraps on my two gen. 4 G26's....before I finally decided that no added backstrap worked better for me. As I said (above), removal involved simply carefully pulling the backstraps off of the frame, followed by working the remaining silicone off of the frame with my fingers. No damage or permanent alteration to either the backstrap or the frame.

As much as I love my Glock's the back straps are definitely amongst the worst in the gun industry.

I love the feel of the beavertail models, but have decided to go with no back straps for the time being.

Hopefully the replacement fixes the problem, if not the epoxy definitely will.
