I use a very light coating of DSX grease.

I like the fact that during shooting it stays where I put it instead of ending up on my glasses.

I use Breakfree CLP and works wonderfully. Grease is too heavy and attracts dust from bullets etc. I have found lightly oiling the rails does a great job, without running the risk of "gumming" up the action with dirty grease.
Shoot well

I started using grease when I saw a shooting buddy put some on a pistol he was having problems with and the problems seemed to go away. More preventative than anything else. Didn't have problems before or after.

On pistols? Kellube. Great stuff. Regular scheduledf cleaning, inspection and maintenance is key no matter what you use.

On SMGs? Melted old-fashion grease (fresh). Accept no substitute.

Oil.

As a side note, once I find that a firearm is reliable with normal amounts of lube with my carry ammo, I shoot them heavily lubed at the range. I figure there is no reason to cause more wear than is necessary.

Shake

Just a tiny schmear of Hoppe's gun grease. I have heard good things about Tetra-Lube's line of products, but haven't tried any.

DSX grease.

Best product made IMO. I put a light coat on after cleaning, work the action, then take it apart and rub,,not wipe,,the parts down. The film that's left is enough to lubricate but not enough to collect dust.

For super slick/break in I'll add just a drop of Rem-oil to the parts after wiping off the DSX.

Lubrication

My carry guns never see any oil. I use Sentry Solutions moly. The liquid is moly in an alcohol vehicle which evaporates and leaves a dry film which, unlike most oil will not attract dust and dirt and then become abrasive. Sentry also makes a moly based grease which I use lightly on the rails. No problems in the past 9 years with this system and several thousand rounds fired.

Clean w/ Hoppes then lube w/ Militec-1. I don't like the grease build up collecting dust soot and what have you......No grease on my rails. I figure if I keep it oiled when I shoot and in between, it'll outlast me.
