According to the article in USA Today (front page)The Liar in Chief,Slick Willie announces today $600,000 in grants to both S&W and FN to speed the development of Smart Gun Technology. Guess he wants to make a good show for the moms in Washington :rolleyes: Another give away of our tax dollars :mad:

I am very unclear about the particulars of governmental spending.

Can he do that?

Does he have some kind of discretionary fund and can he just throw the money around like he sees fit?

Someone please enlighten me. :confused:

Why is it that the companies who can't compete on quality and ingenuity always buddy up with the government? I was suspicious when I saw that new FN pistol. It looks just like a Sigma.

Smith tried his approach during the M9 trials by launching a law suit becasue their test model was inferior to the P226 Sig and 92F Beretta.

Well this one's pretty simple-------buy something besides S&W or FN.

I'd still like to hear how Clinton can spend that on his own, if anybody knows. My guess is it comes out of the budget of one of the cabinet departments?
 
It is grant money that is written into each federal department's budget. The Department of Justice throws grant money around all the time. It is to the point that some large local governmental agencies employ people fulltime just to apply for federal grants.

If your local police department is into community oriented policing, if your police department added police officers in the past four years, it probably used federal grant money.
 
S&W and FN... anyone notice how Clinton loves to work with these foriegn owned companies? I don't own an FN... and now WONT own an FN product. Boycott their A$$E$ just like S&W and Colt. I went as far as to post....

what exactly does FN have on the civilian market?
The reason they are getting money is because they have produced a subgun and pistol that use a 5.7mm rd. that will remain unavailable to civilians.
check out their website and see what they sell before you start in on this "boycott" of a company that produces military arms.
S&W can burn as far as I am concerned. FN is local.
If you do decide to boycott FN please start by sending me all the FN USGI M16/AR15 mags in your collections.

A couple of points:

600,000 isn't much at all when it comes to developmental efforts

Typically something like %50 can be attributed to overhead

FN shouldn't be ostracized or banned for doing research on smart gun technology - only for collaborating with the government to limit sales of conventional arms to US citizens.

If we lash out at FN for developing technology - prior to them using it against us - aren't we at the same level of logic that the Anti-gun morons employ.

Screw S & W - they made their bed, and I hope the rats eat them alive

I'm a little confused; does FN include Browning? The Browning web site home page has a document for NSSF than is pro RKBA.
