Hello everybody,
I just wanted to introduce myself, my name is John and I’ve recently begun making my own Kydex holsters. As of right now, I only make one or two of these holsters at a time and sell them on Ebay. I am currently working on two varieties of holsters for the full-size 1911 handgun. However, I do hope to begin making holsters more often and for a wide variety of handguns in the near future.
What sets my holsters apart from the others is the use of 550-cord (paracord) as a mounting system. The eyelets of my holsters are spaced at a ½” interval. This allows for mounting to MOLLE webbing as well as a variety of belt sizes. By doubling a strand of 550-cord and tying an overhand loop, the holster can also be worn Inside-The-Waistband. As of right now, I do not have a “tuckable” mounting system, however I am working to create one. I opted for the use of 550-cord due to the fact that it is easy to carry additional cord with your other everyday carry items, in case an emergency repair is necessary. I learned the importance of having an easy to repair holster system after having a high-quality holster malfunction while I was carrying a concealed handgun. I did not have the supplies necessary to repair the holster so I was forced to secure it in my vehicle and go without a firearm for the remainder of my day. That’s not a situation that I ever want to be in again!
The first model of holster, and the one that is currently up for sale on Ebay (Item # 140564365856) is known as the BREACH model. It features a closed end design to protect the muzzle end of the firearm from damage. The second model (COMING SOON) will be known as the RECON model. It features an open end design that extends only slightly beyond the muzzle of the firearm. The BREACH model was designed with the tactical operator in mind as it offers protection from debris and damage. The RECON model was designed with concealed carry in mind, and is a smaller design that allows for easier concealment. Make no mistake, both holsters would be equally at home kicking down doors, or covering your assets while you take the dog for a stroll.
Every holster sold comes with a loose “bundle”, and a braided keychain, each containing an additional 12” (approximately) of mil-spec O.D. Green 550-cord. In addition to that, each holster comes ready to run with 1.5” high-ride Outside-The-Waistband loops as well as removable 1.5” Inside-The-Waistband loops.
**NOTE: Use only genuine 550-cord that has been made to military specifications and that has not been “gutted”, or had the inner strands of cord removed. Cord that has not been made to military specifications may mildew, rot, or break. Cord that has been “gutted” is not as strong, AND can easily slip through the ¼” eyelets of the holster.**
The holsters that I sell are made the same way, from the same material, and to the same standard as the holster I carry every single day. I would not carry an inferior, poorly made holster and I wouldn’t dare expect anybody else to! You’re welcome to try the holster for a week, and then if you are not happy with it you can return the holster for a no-questions-asked refund of the purchase price (shipping not included).
Being as that I am only producing small quantities of these holsters at the moment, there may be times when there are not any available for sale. If you would like to be notified when new holsters are listed for sale, or when new models are available, or if you have ANY questions about the holsters themselves please feel free to email me at sledgehammer_holsters@hotmail.com.
Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you all.
