Slain Officer - Gun Raffle

On May 25th, Bardstown, Kentucky Police Officer Jason Ellis was on his way home in a "pool" cruiser when he apparently stopped to remove some tree limbs in the roadway. One or more persons ambushed him and shot him multiple times with a shotgun. http://www.courier-journal.com/arti...-officer-Jason-Ellis-stopped-clear-tree-limbs. He leaves a widow and two children.

A local gun store has donated a Delux Henry Goldenboy II .22 rifle in a raffle to benefit the officer's family. Details here -- http://www.kygunco.com/500-raffle-c...ceeds-go-to-officer-ellis-memorial-fund-67866.

BTW, Officer Ellis also left a special friend, his K-9 co-worker Figo who grieved in his own way at the funeral. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...well-fallen-trainer-funeral-article-1.1361901. Figo has been retired and will live with the rest of Officer Ellis' family.

BTW, I have no connection with the family or the gun store (other than buying a couple of guns there once).

Shared far and wide, purchased several. Thanks for posting this. On the off chance I win I'll ask them to either give it to his sons or sell it retail and donate the money upon sale.

The look on the dogs face is enough to bring tears to the eyes of a tough old goat like me. I too will buy raffle tickets, and as much as I have always wanted a Henry Golden Boy, I would ask that it be given to the wife and sons to be displayed in the family's home, as it should be. :(

Now, on a tactical note, this case reaffirms the case for not following a pattern, not taking the same route, and not getting out of your cruiser without letting dispatch know where you are and why you are stopping. This sounds like a damn sure set up.

RIP Officer Ellis
