SKS stock front screw

I purchased a wood stock for my sks to refinish so I can replace the old one that is in pretty bad shape. The stock does not have the flathead screw towards the front that sits under the barrel. I have read things that say you should not mess with this screw, but I need one in the replacement stock. Should I purchase a new screw or try to remove the one from the old stock? It has a funny back on it that looks like it requires some kind of special wrench. Should I look for a stock that already has this installed or ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
 
I believe you refer to the one pictured here under the front of the receiver ring.

That is actually an abutment that the lug of the receiver rests against. You definitely need that in an SKS. Yes, it does take a special tool, you remove the nut side and the screw slides out. THE SLOTTED SIDE OF THIS FITTING DOESN"T AND SHOULDN"T TURN!!!! If you don't have that two pin wrench, I have successfully removed the nut by using a punch pin and light hammering to get the screw started.
I don't recall if its a left or right handed thread so go slowly till you figure out which way it moves. Like this:

That is exactly what I needed to know. The stock is requiring a little sanding and fitting but I think I am getting it figured out.

It does not seem to line up on the new stock. The stock fits the rest of the gun but this hole is too far back towards the butt. Would it be plausable to use some kind of apokcy to fill the previous hole and redrill a new one slightly forward or am I wasting my time here? these stocks are cheap I guess I could try again but I'm not sure the next one will fit?
