just recently bought an SKS I'm sure it is chinese however, i had some questions about the serial.

1. It has e few chinese characters and triangle (i'll have to look at the number in the triangle). I don't recall any letters before the serial. Serials on the reciever and Bolt carrier/charging handle macth however, it has a stamped serial on the left side of the butt stock that is completely different. Can anyone shed light on this?

Welcome to TFL Baliff. You'll find a lot of great information here.

Sounds like a parts gun. Dosn't really matter as far as its ability as long as it was assembled correctly. However, matching numbers are a must if it is to hold any collector value. If you bought it for a shooter, I wouldn't worry about it at all. Pics would be good too so we could verify the origin. Does the finish match on all the metal surfaces?

No i bought it as a plinker. I was just doing some research and started to wonder if it might be Sino-Soviet or an early model. I'll get some pics up for you

Yes finish matches. As a mentioned earlier, all serials match except on the buttstock. Buttstock serial is actually longer so.....I began to wonder if the serial on the buttstock is a military identifier or if the rifle was issued at one point. Also..the stock appears to be cut for a blade

They do? I have several and both the Yugo and Chinese variants I have came with the same blade (flat) bayonet. I do have several spike bayonets (purchased seperatly) but have never seen a stock cut different for it. I'm definately not an expert but I thought I had seen it all when it comes to SKS's. Love em!!

I'll get some pics up for you

Im anxiously waiting :D
