Hi everyone. I just bought a sks the markings are triangle with 26 inside it and serial number H0757 I have been told this is china's oldest factory and a low s.number can anyone tell me more:confused:

factory 26 was chinas main factory, almost all SKS came from there though they had dozens spread throughout china.

normally they used a 7 or 8 digit serial number with the first number(or first 2 for 8 digit) reflecting the number of years after 1956 that is was made. mine for instance is a 3 million range serial number so it was made in 1959(3+1956=1959). the first year that they were made they tried a number of different methods of trying to account for their rifles before landing on the sequential first digits. should it prove correct yours should be a 1956 made rifle that predates that serial scheme. early sino-soviet rifles used the blade type bayonet rather than the later and much more prolific spike bayonet.

is yours still in original configuration or has it had plastic stuff slapped on it?

thanks for the response. it has the blade style bayonet and is still all original all numbers are matching including the stock. the stock is a little rough but overall pretty cool. the bore and barrel look great. after 3 days of cosmoline removal.I just kept telling myself cosmoline is my friend. and it turns out its true:D

I was forcing myself to say the rifle chant
"this is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. my rifle is my friend, even though he poops cosmoline on me every time I squeeze the trigger". I had to change the stock, boil the small parts and thoroughly clean probably half a dozen times before I got all the cosmo out of mine.

mine was really rough. rotten and shrunken stock, less than 60% metal finish remaining, no cleaning kit. I made mine into a poor man's evil black rifle. if you care to read the story here's the last thread I made on it.
