SKS help please...*updated with pic*

I just bought an old SKS. Its in pretty good condition but I dont know much about it. The barrel says SKS 7.62 x 39 RUSSIA and the serial number (?) is KE443... I dont really have any experience with SKS rifles and I was hoping someone could give me some info on it. Thanks for any and all help. I really appreciate it.

We really could use pictures or more info on any other stamps markings. Does it even have a bayonet?

Go to the sks boards site and look in the russian section. There is a ton of knowledge about the sks there. Plus they will be better able to help you date the gun.

It's a Russian SKS (Good)
has been through the rearsonal process (not good but pretty typical)
Is missing the original magazine (bad)
has a crappy scope and aftermarket reciever cover on it (bad)
has a chinese buttpad/extender (good because it can be easily removed)

It's a solid $350 gun

+1

It started life as a solid carbine. Too bad it was bubba'd with a lousy scope (causes poor accuracy) and aftermarket magazine (causes failures to feed).

Below are parts needed to make it work right.
Magazine assembly
Dust cover

Unless it has more U.S.-made parts, that rifle is not legal in its current configuration. It needs to be taken back to its original configuration (fixed box magazine), or needs to have more 'compliance parts' added. Otherwise, it is not 922(r) compliant.
