SKB 600, Imported for Ithaca.....

Pop's last shotgun was one of these in 20 gauge, and the few times I got it away from him it was a fine uplander. He sold it shortly before he passed, and I couldn't afford it at the time.

Recently I went into GUNS R US for some ammo and spotted one in the racks. Good shape, 20 gauge, and just like Pop's except 28" barrels, Mod/Full instead of 26", IC/Mod.

Lever's just right of center, and it passed The Ring Test. Bores look brand new, I cannot recall if they're chromed or not. Honest wear, no abuse.

They're holding it for me while the smith resolves a minor issue with the forearm. Asking price is $450 but I may be able to haggle down a trifle.

Any input? I don't NEED another bird gun, but this one speaks to me.

Thanks......

It's hard to quantify sentiment when it comes to buying a gun, or anything. As, you are well aware, folks are tending toward longer shotgun barrels these days, so the 28-inchers are a plus. You didn't say if you shot it -- how's the fit and trigger pull -- does it hit where your point?
"I don't NEED another bird gun, but this one speaks to me."
Perhaps you should heed its call.
The bottom line is: are you going to be kicking yourself in the pants for the rest of your life if you let this one get away?

Maybe not my whole life, zippy, but long enough to hurt.

Didn't shoot it, but the store pointing went well. Stock's a hair short, but that's why we have Decellerators.

Zoli Sliver Snipe 20 gauge

Been looking for recent information on the Zoli guns. Looking at a 20 gauge, I believe is a "Silver Snipe" model. It has the drawn bow under the trigger guard, single trigger, four or five choke tubes and a canvas Zoli brown case for the gun when broken down. If I compared the gun to others listed on Guns International or other sites, this gun would rate a "very good" rating in all categories.

Like the person before me, "it is speaking to me," and I have four other 20 gauge shotguns similiar in kind and need another like a knot on the head. The price is $600 which I found to be of my liking, having just bought an SKB for $1,500. I can find nothing to compare to on any of the sites.

Can anyone offer advise on what to look for, at or consider before buying? Thanks for the help!

I'm not really familiar with the Zoli line. General rep is decent quality shotguns.

$600? With choke tubes, case and so on, a good deal.

As with many foreign made guns, parts may be a problem.

Go for it if it "Speaks to you"....

This from another forum's older thread, but it might help on the Zoli question:

the 25th Edition of the Blue Book does list a Silver Snipe under Angelo Z. However, I don't see one listed under Antonio Z. There is a Golden Snipe under Antonio.

According to the BB, the Angelo Z Silver Snipe was discontinued in 1987, and the bank didn't take over until 1989.

Hey Guys- Antonio Zoli has been in business since the mid-1800's and now has a permanent presence in North America. Our website is www.zoli.it. Parts and service for all current models including Z Gun, Dakota,Verona, Sig SA3 and Ritmos can be found at Cole Gunsmithing (207-833-5027). Parts are not available for most models from the 50's,60's and 70's. Gunter Pfrommer (540-484-5555) will make parts for these models if you are patient.
I know little of the Angelo Zoli guns except for what I have learned while in Italy, where they were considered to be low cost production guns. The guns had many problems and caused the company to fail.
Antonio Zoli srl manufactured guns for Ambercrombie and Fitch, Holland and Holland, Beretta,Sig, Kreighoff, etc. as well their own models.
Paolo Zoli, grandson of Antonio Zoli, now runs the company with Zoli family members as well as many generations of Zoli gunsmiths. The new models reflect his desire to produce high quality guns to compete with the best on the market.Steve
