Sizing 22 Hornet ?

A good friend gave me 3 boxes 55gr. bullets and 41 22Hornet cases. I traded the bullets for 2 boxes of 40gr. Hornet bullets. So I figured I would pay my friend by loading the cases for him. They were mostly Rem. and a few WW. cases. After cleaning the cases I FL resized but backed off 1/8 turn. Some of the Hornet shoulders had vertical dimpling. Looking like buckling inward. It isn't much and I am sure firing them in his rifle would form them well. Now another odd thing I noticed on the cases before I resized them was all the primer pin dents were off set. So with the two odd things case sizing and primers. I am thinking that his chamber on his Hornet may be over sized or at least at max size. What do you think?

Dimpling was probably caused by too much case lube.

Many commercial rifles make off center primer strikes that are typically not a problem.

sizing the 22 hornet

i know i am late to this post but after reloading the hornet for years now ,this is what i have learned that works for me.
my rifle :CZ527 LUX 22 hornet , bullet of choice:HORNADY .224 45 gr hornet#2230. 13 to 13.2 grns lil'gun . this round is a killer and the bulled retains weight with a good mushroom, this bullet does not blow up ,it is a killer at 200 yrds if your rifle can shoot.

i use a lee collet sizing die and size about 3/16 down from the lip of the case . the hornet seats on the rim,so what you are doing is letting the case fit your chamber.
i use little gun powder and a 6 1/2 rem. small pistol primer with a medium crimp,my crimping die is a lee collet crimping die ,you will not bulge the thin hornet case with this die.
