Size of Hog

My son and I know where this big boy lives. Does anyone have the experience to estimate the size of this one?

James you should just go baggett..lol..sorry for the pun. I'd guess, though hard to guesstamate at about 200lbs. Looks pretty healthy, now go kill it and report back. We are waiting!

And welcome from another bag man, Bagley.

With only the background for reference, and lookin' his head over, I would say 180-225...

I'd say that's a pretty good guess and if any one can nail this one, Hogdogs has plenty of experience with them.

sequoia

he might go more than 200 if those are sequoia spruce. he also does not look like he has been removed by more than a generation from domestication, which makes him heavier in the hams.

My son and I hunt deer in this same area with gun and bow. I want to put a 308 from my BAR into it, but my son wants to put an arrow into it. We have heard that when hog move in the deer move out. True or false. Hog hunting is open year round in Mississippi and we will reduce the hog population if the deer move out.

Deer often will be pushed from a corn feeder by hogs but in my experience, there are crap loads of deer in the same places we have crap loads of hogs... Some similar foods but hogs can't browse from up high like the deer and deer don't go after the roots and underground fauna... So if you have a wide selection of foods overall, I think the coexist. If food is not diverse or of good quantity, I would bet on the hogs to win the battle.

As for archery, I would make sure he practices alot...

If he hits the shield on the shoulder area, he will see how fast a razorhead can run...
I found a 4 blade long head in a shield and it was just a little black coloration on the tissue...

The .308 would be my arrow of choice:D

MY vote is 200lbs. also I'd get him quick before you know it there will be 10 more just like him/30 little ones.Once they start you cant shootem fast enough. Hogs are messin up South GA they're everywhere.I hunt down where HOG ZILLA came from its bad.

A friend of mine that still resides in Southeast Missouri, says they are getting bad in his deer woods.. Last season many of his hunting party started by having to shoot hogs. Biggest one was a sow that went about 200 lbs. He says that the ground is becoming devoid of any cover, and there are no more turkey, or quail..... MDC SAYS SHOOT"EM ON SIGHT AND BURY THE CARCASS DEEP!!!!!!however you can take them and eat them of course.. ( I would hunt the hog on the first day and put him to roasting at the campfire,, sandwhiches for the whole week, Pulled pork anyone?????) Sorry I've had too much coffee!!! 225lbs cause they are usually heavier than they look, just wait til you start dragging that dude!!!!!!

Thanks for coming!!!

I will guess 240 lbs (live weight!!), because it is one of the "long-versions" (that version doesn´t look as heavy as it really is).......

Agree With TX Hunter

I agree with TX Hunter at closer to 300. Fully mature, looks to be in great shape also looks to have some width.

I've killed pleanty...

...but Mr. Hogdogs has killed more. So I hate to disagree with the Pro. But my estimate is closer to 250-275 range. You have to whack him and get a good, on the hoof weight now.
