Sistema Is Beautiful

Not long ago I posted a question here as to whether I should get a Colt Sistema or a new Rock Island Armory. Not a lot of replies but those that I got recommended the Sistema. I was already leaning that way so I ordered a Sistema from CDNN.

The pistol arrived last Thursday and it's beautiful. Not a nick, ding or pit anywhere; inside or out. All matching numbers except the mag. The mag that came with it works just fine. I had read elsewhere to expect to replace it.

Mindful not to get bit by the hammer I test fired the pistol at 20 yards just to get the feel of it. Brass ejected in a nice pile about three feet to the right. It shoots 1/2 inch to the left and three inches high.

I then tried five shots for accuracy. Without the aid of a rest or bench I shot a 1 and 1/4 inch group at 20 yards. Thats great for me.

Thanks for your advice. I think I got a great pistol.
 
Not to gloat but..........

Buying a Sistema is the same as buying a NEW colt in 1940.

Except you have it in you hands in 2001.

I love my sistema!! Just replaced the grips with some diamond walnut checkered Chip McCormicks and did a ramp polishing job (800 grit sandpaper, dremel and flitz). It is now my no.1 carry piece. :D :D :D
 
I love my Systema,too.After polishing the feedramp,adding a Wolff 16 1/2lb recoil spring, extended thumb safety,Nowlin trigger job,beavertail grip safety,hardcore hammer,firing pin,flat msh, new trigger and some Wilson mags it is now my #1 carry gun and very pleasing to look at.Not that it wasn't beautiful in original form but I have all original parts if I ever want to change her back.she does shoot a little to the left and high but perhaps a new barrel and/or bushing would fix this.

IN THIS COUNTRY A SISTEMA COLT COST $200-350 DOLLARS.
IN VERY GOOD CONDITIONS.
THE STANDARTS MAGAZINES WORK WELL. I VE TRIED FIVE IN
MY OWN PISTOL WITHOUT PROBLEMS.
BUT THE ACTION IS VERY HEAVY, AND THE HAMMER BITES, REALLY BITES!!!!

If parts are hard to come by try filing the hammer just a little to stop the hammer bite.A Dremel tool makes the job go by faster.

Used Brownells bake on teflon moly finish. Put in some higher, used sights.

Lots of fun, and shoots well.

That's a beautiful looking Sistema. How is the front sight post attached?
 
I like my Sistema. Something about a "plain jane" 1911. I think about carrying it but, I don't know. I have a nice antique chair but, I don't trust sitting in it.
 
My Systema is trusted with my life.I did replace firing pin,trigger group,springs and such for a couple of bucks to make sure those items won't fail anytime soon.Now it's a workhorse.
