Sistema 1927 or USGI 1911a1??

Hi,

I need some sound advice. I want a 1911a1 pistol. I have been looking into a USGI 1911a1, but the price of these things seems ungodly lately. I noticed many 1927 Sistema pistols showing up on the market as well. I am basically looking for an older 1911 made at the time when quality mattered. I could get one of these 1927's for a fraction of the 1911a1, and the finish looks much better. Which should I be going after here? Thanks for your opinions!

The Sistemas are top-notch guns. You'll find a thread or two about them elsewhere on this forum.

Made on Colt equipment, by Colt-trained machinists, to then (1930's - 1940's) high Colt-standard quality. Fully interchangeable with 1911A1s.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a better gun for twice the price, and you won't find a better one for under $400.

Sistema 1927...just got my second one

The Sistema Modelo 1927 is an excellent 1911. As has already been stated...it was built on Colt machines, to Colt specifications and all parts are interchangeable with Colt parts.

I just got my second one from JLD enterprises through Adam Firestone at cruffler.com. Grade 1 price was $299 and the condition was excellent. I now have two Sistemas, a Ballester Molina and a Springfield...the Sistemas get the most use at the range.

Sistemas are great guns. Good steel and good workmanship. Also, you could get a 1927 Colt contract pistol for about $100 more, if the horsey matters to ya.

I'll join the chorus, I picked up a cherry 1927 from cruffler.com for $299, you won't find a GI 1911 for less than twice that, and that won't be in this condition. If you just want a nice military style 1911 pistol, the Argentine gun is a great choice. If you're buying it for it's collector value, buy the GI 1911.

I got 2, if I had more room in the safe, I'd get more. They are the best value around. Both my guns are in 99%+ condition and function flawlessly. I can't believe that they haven't run out of them, get 'em while you can.

We have customized three Sistemas. One is the working gun to show to customers but the other two are for sale. Beautiful guns. One is completely custom and hardchromed, the other two toned hardchrome and black. Excellent shooters, hand tuned and fitted, reasonably priced. For more and pictures info send e-mail to my addy.
