Single Stack Duty Size Glock .45 ACP--Rumor, Real, or What?

You're dreaming about the Glock 36. Gaston Glock said they would be available within three or four months about 18 months ago. Then they would be available at the SHOT show. At the SHOT show, Glock said they would be available in... you guessed it, "three or four months." I've seen pictures of them, and gun magazine writers have claimed not only to have seen them, but to have shot one and a half inch groups at 25 yards and not have a single malfuntion! The irony here is that Glock has said the delay in the release of the G36 is malfunctioning magazines. The newest delay is rumored to be that Glock won't release them until all of the pistols are "fingerprinted" for the BATF and FBI. Who knows?

I hunt, therefore I am.

I handled a G36 today, and 4000 just entered the U.S., with the LE guns coming in about three weeks. It is awesome. I brought up the full size slimline 45 to the factory reps and they stated that they are requesting the same thing and do believe it will happen. This was a case of high demand for a compact before the full-size, but it does seem to be the next logical transgression (21st century 1911). I am glad Glock fixed a defiency prior to delivery, rather than letting it go into the market with a problem.

I heard from Glock they had feed problems, and wanted to make sure everything was fine before releasing them. Good for Glock, and btw, wouldnt it be a great idea to support them for standing up for us?

Walter is right. got a kimber in the shop last week--new in the box, rusting beavertail safety,on a stainless gun. Lovely.

sigle stack duty size glock, thats not compact is it? well, i say fooie on that, who wants an auto that only fires six, when that happens, my 686 is coming out of the toy rack into the carry gun rack the same day. now, i really like my G30, the smaller ones aren't really that good fitting my hand.

A LEO I met said that he'd fired the 36 at an LE firearms seminar. The idea of a G17 sized .45 was raised BY the Glock rep. Naturally, all the guys told him that it would be a shoe-in.
I hope it's an 8-rd, single column, with at least a 4.25" barrel. The G36 upscaled? I think this would be better received than a staggered mag design in the G17 format.

In theory, the full size gun should be around 9-10 round capacity, and take a light. Just think, no LE/non LE mags, and it will fit most peoples hands. It will become my instant duty gun if they make it. The second I take delivery of my G36 it will become my primary off duty carry gun (I'd rather carry a 21 ounce very flat accurate gun in my favortie caliber than any big revolver when it comes to concealability)

Well, I have to admit I am a big revolver fan. When I owned both types of carry guns I ended up ditching my Kahr MK-9 in favor of my SP-101. 5 rds of .357 vs 6 of 9mm wasn't enough to keep me with the Kahr, especially as they weighed about the same. But 5 rds of .357 vs 6 rds of .45ACP in a G-36? That'd probably tip the balance for me and turn me back to an auto for every day carry. :)

The Glock 36 is out and available in Germany. People have taken delivery earlier this month. Sounds like a fine pistol.

Oleg, the M45 may be at SHOT next year. Watch for my reports and dream. ;)

gimme a single-column 4-5" .45 with accessory rail & NY trigger for my "nightstand gun", and a similar 5" 10mm with a 3.5lb connector for my "trail gun". that's all I'm asking...

6 + 1 isn't bad. Ask all the 1911 people who swear by 7+1. 7 rounds of that old fat bullet coming from a small gun is still pretty damn good. A g17 sized 10rounder would be a huge hit.
