hey guys i got this intresting idea.. *at least i think its intresting*

I have all of a sudden been sucked into the idea of making a AMD 65 buying a recever blank and doing it all myself..

my question is if i got a 12 gauge barrel to and cut it down to make something like a m279 attachment for the AK would it be agenst the law??

thats just part of it though the other part is taking lets say a rem 870 bolt and a action that would slide along the barrel that would bring the blot up into firing postion... this shotgun would be a single shot and mount of a accesory rail...

basicly i want to make a M279 in 12gauge.. the trigger and that souldent be too hard its more of the recevor..

honestly i think i made a mistake i think its the M79 that i'm thinking of... the one that is a attachment on the M16's i like the action of it and would love to make a 12ga like it..

I am not sure, but I think BATFE might consider that as an "any other weapon" under the National Firearms Act, since it is neither a shotgun nor a legal pistol. You might not be cutting down a shotgun, but smooth bored pistols are also in the no-no category. Assuming you want to stay legal, before proceding with any actual work, write BATFE (address on www.atf.gov web site), describe in detail what you want to do, and follow their instructions.

A smoothbore without shoulder stock would be classified as an AOW or Destructive Device. It could be legal to make and posess one, but you'll have to jump through some hoops.

You could legally mount a 37mm launcher under your rifle. You cannot legally use anti-personell ammunition in it though. (Shotshells, 12 ga. chamber adapter, etc.) Only flares, bird bombs, etc. 37mms transfer as non-guns.
