Single shot rifle verses bolt action accuracy

I've got a Contender collection, & some are amaizingly accurate...

however I'll pose my response this way...

"I" can shoot most accurately with a gun that can be shot repeatedly without "unbedding" it... if I'm shooting off sandbags on my bench, I generally get better groups if the cartridge can be changed without moving the rifle... bolt actions are easier to change the cartridge without moviung the rifle, than a break action style single shot... but my rolling block single shots are just as easy to change a cartridge as the bolt action... my lever action single shots or repeating rifles are just the same as a break action single as far as moving the rifle...

that said, I still enjoy shooting my Contenders, & my Martini single shots for both the challenge & the nostalgia...:)

... & every once in a while, I can still wring out an exceptional group...

i have a tc encore with MGM barrels that consistantly go around .1-.6" at 100 yards(3 shots, if ya can't get them with the first one, ya shoundn't be huntin). they are the 20 vartarg, 22-250ai, 6.5 creedmoor and my favorite, the 444 marlin. i also have a 270 win in ruger #1 that goes .3" at 100 yards. the 3 groups are from my 270. the last group(the one on the left) is 47.0gr of imr4320, the other two are 46.5gr and 46.0gr.

i've used alot of bolt actions in my time, some shot great, some you were ready to wrap around the nearest tree, but i'll take my single shots every time.
