Single-shot adapter for savage mark ii?

Duke2009 Thanks for asking this question!

WC145,
Thanks for the link! Necessity once again proves to be the mother of invention. ;)

No success finding ss adapter

Apparently this Randal guy in AZ has disappeared. His PM box is full and no one has heard from him. Looks like somebody needs to pick up where he left off! We all don't have our adapters yet. Maybe Savage could provide this as an accessory.....

About single-shot adaptors,,,

I'm curious as to what advantage a single-shot adaptor gives a shooter.

Now don't get me wrong,,,
I am a great fan of single shot rifles,,,
In fact I own two and shoot them quite often.

I'm simply curious as to why one would want and use one.

I also own a CZ-452 Military Trainer,,,
I noticed on the CZ website that an adapter is available.

My question is,,,
Why?

well, i'd want one for the reason, i like shooting small groups off a bag..

when i get setup, it's easier not to disturb it loading singly..

no diffrent than shooting my F/tr.. its single shot only..

highpower is single shot..

i'd like to find one for my cz 527..

other than that, no real reason..mags work fine.

i guess the same reason i want a light trigger in the target rifles..

F/tr is 8 oz..
cz is about 14 0z in single set

etc..they can be light, but must be safe..

Safely training kids for one. I'd feel much safer teaching a group of Boy Scouts how to shoot if I knew they could only load and shoot one at a time (less chance of a ND with a barrel sweep when they get all excited after hitting the target).

Another advantage of them when shooting single, is that most of them I have seen and used let you pretty much just flop a ctg on top of it and return the bolt to battery. With some actions, if you just drop a ctg in, it will find it's way to one side or the other of the factory follower and come nowheres close to chambering when moving the bolt forward.

That's got me thinking what a little dab of Devcon, dremmel, a spare magazine, and serious eyeballing could accomplish.

Aarond, I've got a 452 MT as well (no scope as of yet). It has a wide open and generous ejection port area that makes it a breeze to get my fingers in there enough to get a ctg started. But some others- no matter how small one's fingers are, if they drop in a round- they're kinda at the mercy of the fates as to whether or not that round will chamber correctly and smoothly. I really love that rifle!

I should rephrase my question,,,

I originally asked,,,

What I should have asked was,,,

I'm curious as to what advantage a person gains shooting in single-shot mode?

In competition that has whats called a "slow fire" stage- only one round is placed in the weapon at a time. Although I don't think it's a rule, but quite a few folks shooting the running target matches only load one at a time.

And there's times over a prairie dog town, I don't feel like messing with the single stack mags on my CZ 527 and will only load one at a time. That works well as that's not exactly a rapid fire endeavor.

Overall- I guess it's mainly for competition and a few folks with quirky preferences (like me).

In fact, BSA Shooting Sports safety regs require the use of single shot rifles. The rules were recently amended to allow the use of magazine-fed rifles, but only if one round is loaded in the mag.

The rules only apply to the Boy Scout level. Venturing Scouts/Crews can shoot most rifles without restriction.

single shot lets you slap down a 550 round box and shoot for a very long time. no stopping to load mags. this is just fun at the range and it would be very useful to take out a zombie horde, from a safe place. if you have to stop to load mags the zombies could flank you easier. a single shot allows continuous shooting.

this is why i want a break open .22lr. i didn't have good luck with the rossi though.

Hello cajn47,,,

Try an H&R Sportster in .22 LR,,,
Mine is a wonderful field rifle.

The rifle on the top is a .357 Magnum Handi-Rifle,,,
The rifle on the bottom is a Sportster in .22 LR.

You could always buy a T/C Encore. An encore frame runs about $400 with stock and forearm. They get about $340 for their new .22LR barrel. Kind of expensive for a single-shot .22.

I prefer the sigle-shot feature, on the bench.

Our Iowa hunter safety classes require single-shot rifles as well. I'm not entirely sure if it's a strict Iowa DNR requirement or the sponsoring conservation group. At any rate, We use Marlin Youth models and full size savage, bolt actions. ... :)

On the bench, I like shooting single shot on .22's as well as centerfire. I don't like loading target ammo, into magazines and like my .22's unmarked, going into the breech. CZ makes or use to make an adaptor for their 452's. ... :)

Be Safe !!
