Single Action Trigger - How Many Guns Do This....

I have a Makarov that sets the trigger to the rear when in single action mode.

I have noticed that many modern DA/SA guns do not do this and require a long sweep of the trigger through an arc of almost no resistance before reaching a detent where the hammer will finally drop.

Does anyone know of any modern conventional DA/SA autos where the trigger sets to the rear when the gun is in a single action configuration.

Thanks,

In my experience of 30 years

starting with M39 Smiths, most all of them do as you describe.

I can't think of any DA/SA auto that doesn't move the trigger back in the guard when in SA mode.

I'll second that comment. Check out almost any DA/SA revolver or semi-auto, they do the same thing. I'm having trouble thinking of one that doesn't...

I just double checked all of my DA pistols and revolvers (SIGs, Rugers, CZs). They all preset the trigger to the rear when in SA mode. I think the list of those that don't would be much shorter than the list of those that do.

The ones that don't are the so-called "double action only" guns, and guns like the Glock that have only an intermediate action. AFAIK, all the DA/SA guns fire the first shot DA, then once cocked, switch to the single action mode, with the trigger to the rear.

I seem to recall shooting a Beretta Cougar in .40 that did not set the trigger to the rear when in SA mode, it was my one major gripe about the gun which is otherwise a big favorite of mine because of its extremely low perceived recoil.

I'm happy to hear however that this is the exception rather than the norm.
