How do I change the mag release to the right hand side? I'm a lefty and would like to try it on the right, although I'm afraid I'll accidentally hit when I draw.

You can't. It takes new parts and some modification.
There is an ambi magazine catch from S&A that calls for one small cut made in the frame.

There is a reversed catch made by someone in the racegun industry for people who think punching the catch with their trigger finger is faster, though I do not have an advert at hand.

I haven't seen anything on it for a while, but there used to be a "left hand" mag release on the market. It was an ordinary mag release with what looked like an eyehook welded to the right side. To operate it, the left handed shooter reached up with his right hand and pulled the hook, releasing the magazine. I suppose a string or cord could have been used also.

I'm left-handed. I just use my trigger finger to release the magazine on my 1911A1 and my Beretta 92. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but it works well for me.
