Simmons Presidential Series

Anyone know anything about these scopes? I bought one in 4-12x44 and while I know a little about them, I don't know much. I know they are supposed to be one of Simmons higher end scopes that they made back in the 80's. This one has the finish worn off where the rings were more than I'd have liked, but the rest of the scope is in good shape with the glass looking near perfect. It's a really clear scope. I also know they came in a wooden box, which I don't have. I also don't have the yellow lens covers that came with it, but I do have the sunshade. Anyone know an approximate value on just the scope and sunshade in this condition? Is this a good scope? Anyone have any other info on them?

Considering the quality of some of the presidents we've had, there may be a message in the naming of that scope series.

Never heard of that model . The aetec is the best scope Simmons ever made , nice big eye box !

I have the binoculars

to go with your scope - 8 X 42, Model 2409, "Simmons Presidential".

The focus mechanism "clicks", and it seems like my eyes are always a half click off. They don't allow you to focus in between 2 very positive clicks, one of which is focused beyond what I am trying to focus on, and the other is short of it.

Frustrating.
