anybody got any of these stashed away on their loading bench???I`d like to find some for .32 win special also. 150gr or 170 gr in either caliber.

thanks!

I have some but they are not for sale.

You know they are only aluminum caps pressed over the nose of the bullet and crimped in, don't you.

Not really that special, no silver in them. Silver is way to hard to be of any practical use as a garnishment for on the tip of the bullet.

A lot of my Uncles swore by them when I was young. Never really understood why.
Their 32spls didn't mess a deer up any worse than my 30WCF did with 170gr Sierra flat nosed bullets.

They haven't made them for decades so I'd be amazed if you found any.

You may find some old factory stuff at gun shows though but be prepared to pay for them.

LE 28, thanks for the reply...

I`m sure there are some out there...Yes I know there`s not any silver in them; however I collect cartridges, so you know I have varieties...I have several of the older ones that were cupro/nickel tips before they changed to aluminum.

Hopefully, I`ll find some for sale.

Yeah, ya gotta have Silvertips. Since they don't make them anymore, I look for them at the gun shows. I will buy them if the price is within my sense of reasonable and pass if they aren't. I have bought some 30-30 ammo that was not only old, but quite deteriorated, just because it was Silvertip ammo. I disassembled the bad stuff, oftentimes salvaging only the bullets which clean up fine in a vibratory case tumbler. Then I rebuild it into new ammo with correctly head-stamped cases that match the vintage as closely as possible. I examine the old powder charges and weigh them before throwing it out. Here's what I have found: The Silvertips with aluminum tips from the yellow boxes typical of the 1970's contained a ball-powder with the appearance and a charge weight consistent for Winchester 760 in the 170 grain version that I dismantled. I was somewhat surprised that it could not have been W-748, as it would have been an overcharge if it were. Now the older 170 grain Silvertips with the nickel-silver tips from the Grizzly Bear box, contained an extruded propellant charge that resembled IMR-4895 or something similar.
