Sigs Legion series PVD issues

I've been wanting to purchase a 226 Legion SAO in 9mm but I'm a bit concerned about the PVD coating and the issues I've heard about it. Is the coating something that Sig would fix under warranty if it gets crappy or would they say that wear on the users part that caused the finish to deteriorate?

I've seen the threads. I've also seen pistols in the used counter locally with what appears to be the issue. Some people say that if you were to oil the frame and wipe it off that the difference isn't noticeable anymore. But idk. I've also seen a P320 in FDE with the slide in PVD and it looked awesome. I'd inspect it first. I don't see it as something that would develop, more something that would be that way from factory. But I might be wrong.

I have read that some folks who bought new Legions and were unhappy with uneven PVD finishes returned them to SIG and SIG replaced the pistols.

I am not sure what they would do with a used pistol that showed a lot of wear.

Some people have felt that the Legion PVD finish has been less durable than the SIG Nitron finish. Others have not seen an issue with durability.

If you buy a Legion, I would examine it closely including the slide and frame interior and see if you are satisfied with it.
