Sigpro. Any good???

I'm thinking about picking up a Sigpro 2340 in 357 Sig, and was wondering what the general opinion of these guns are. Are they up to the quality of the other Sig pistols, or are they a mistake? Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks!

Tom

Greetings Thomas, In my humble opinion, I
would most definitely stay away from the
SigPro series; opting instead for the "P"
series 229 in .357 Sig. Saw a SigPro the
other day that the polymer has cracked
around the trigger guard; and it's not
been dropped or abused in any way!!! Sig
needs to put the SigPro on the back burner;
and concentrate of their fine aluminum frame
handguns. :D

Ala Dan,

I've noticed that you are a big Sig 220 fan. Somewhere I saw that you have a HK USP .45 for your home gun. I was wondering why you didn't stick with the P220?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm thinking about a production .45 and I've rented the 220 and USP a couple of times. The first time I preferred the USP. The second time I liked the Sig better. Since I have a 226 I'd probable stick with the Sig format. But the 7 rd capacity is a little bit of an issue. Has any one come up with a 10 rd mag for the 220 that's reliable. (Note the 10 round mag would be used only to compete with.)

Thanks,

Dave

We issued the SigPro to about 67 of our LEO's
after initial training and another round of
qualification they have held up well. Most
of our officers like the gun but some do not.
The gun comes with two grips which help fit
a lot of people. We transitioned a lot( for our size ) of revolver shooters to this
waepon and most of them did very well. We have had very few negitive reactions. Accuracy is good considering it's a .40.
We have very few malfs except for limp
wristing causing double feeds.

Despite some of the SigPro bashing that goez on, I have one and like it a lot. You can't go wrong with a Sig, and personally I like polymer. If it fits your hand, points good for ya, and ya like how it shoots (assuming you get the chance to fire one) I would recommend it.

Works for me.

Tom,
I own the SP2340 in .357 Sig, and I like it a lot, but then again, half my handguns are polymer framed. I have 700 rounds through it, and so far, it's holding up well. The only draw back is the price of ammo. The cheapest new factory ammo is going to run at least $13 a box (UMC & Winchester White). I was seriously considering a .40 drop in barrel, until someone on these boards steered me to www.cccammo.com . They have once fired FMJ reloads for $165/1000, and new brass, loaded with 124 gr. Hornady JHP-XTP for $125/500. In my opinion, their reloads are superior to new UMC factory ammo. It's a blast to be able to shoot .357 Sig for around the same price as the less accurate .40 S&W. Now, if I can just get a .357 Sig barrel for my Walther P-99 .40 .....

Take care,
David

I love the SigPro,and it will probably be my next handgun. A few more rentals before I settle in on it.

The slide is pretty beefy, and the grip is very ergonomic. Talked to Hogue, and they said they will be coming out with their cobblestone grips for the SigPro, and that rocks!

Tough to go wrong with a Sig IMHO.
