wondering a good price for a new one. My local dealer has one for 525.00. with 2 mags!! Looking for a .40 cant decide which model sig to get any help would be greatly appreciated

Ihave the 2340 in .357 and love it.GOOOD price and you can get a barsto that will just drop in where the .40 goes, can't go wrong trust me!!!

I got mine for 567.00 with Tritium NS in the .357 sig. They come in a lockable case with 2 grips, 2 10 rd mags, and mine also came with a trigger lock, but I don't know how new that policy is from Sig. I know it isn't anyhing my dealer had to do. W/O NS was 517.00 so sounds like you are getting a good deal. I still haven't got to shoot mine yet except in a dream the other night (boy that sure is sad

) but I hope to remedy that this week! Good luck, I bought mine because I liked the way they felt and shot (cousin's in a .40 S&W) and I had heard great reviews on them.

Until the antis put a sign in their front yard that says they don't own guns, they are riding on the shirt-tail of the safety that we provide by owning them.

Shooter, Got mine 1 month ago & have fallen in love. Never much cared for Simi-Auto pistols, always was a revolver person. But, this Sig has changed my stubborn mind about My "revolver is better" stand.

My 2340 was in 40S&W, but I have since added a 357Sig barrel. Both are very accurate, but that 357Sig really is impressive.

Price: Gun, 2 clips, 2 grips , case, etc. was 489, the extra (Sig brand) barrel cost me 150. The barrel was a real drop in fit, I was very pleased! Just a week ago a Little Rock dealer had them on sale for 517. He sold out the same day the sale started.

Well, I guess I will be the first to disparage the 2340 in this thread. I bought one back in Oct. 99 as my first pistol. I was pleased with it to start, until I had a few FTF's and a couple of jams that didn't instill any confidence in it. Also, this was my carry piece, and I found it to be a little too heavy for CCW for me. A week ago, I took it to my local dealer and traded it in for a new G23, and I haven't regretted it a bit.

But, to address your ?'s more directly, if you want a Sig, and are looking at a .40, I would recommend the P239. Either way ya go, I would stick with the P series Sig line. And as far as the price, seems like a fair one. I paid about the same for mine.

Good luck on choosing a pistol, I wish you the best.

FTF's in this weapon are caused by 2 things.
1.) Crappy ammo!!!!
2.)Failure to properly clean!!!

I use Cor-Bon 115gr 5000 fps HP's for carry.
For practice I use NOBODY except Collins Cartridge Company reman's.(cccammo.com)They are 165.00-170.oo/1000rds.I have fired 5000-8000 rounds with four feed failures and that is impressive. The ammo from them is far more accurate and dependable than any factory I've fired.Stick with the SigPro.You will love it!!!

Siggy,

You may be right about the FTF's, but that was not the case with my pistol. I thoroughly cleaned it before I shot it for the first time, and after subsequent uses. The ammo might have been suspect, though I only shot Blazer's and Lawman through it.

shooter.45,

It really all comes down to what you feel most comfortable with and what gun fits YOU and your requirements. If you like the Pro, get it and enjoy your choice. It just wasn't the right gun for me. Best of luck to ya.

I have shot seven (7) different SP2340s from 1000 to 3000 rounds each. Properly cleaned and lubed w good ammo.

In my hands the 357 was a dream. Accurate and reliable. The 40 was problematic. Drop in the OEM SIG barrels and frequent FTF (usually the slide would not lock all the way up, had to be nudged fwd a bit). All early production guns and barrels.

Seems like a lot of happy 40 shooters out there, SIG might have "fixed" it, or it might have been me, not the guns?

Best looking polymer pistol. Kinda big and heavy for a 3.9 inch barrel. Looks tough as heck. More muzzle flip than most 40/357s, but less felt recoil.

I've had the same experience as BrokenArrow. The slide needs a nudge forward every now and then. I am planning on sending it to SIG to be fixed, and I'm waiting on a .357 SIG barrel. Bought mine in Oct '99 as well...

All in all, I really like the way the gun feels and shoots. However, at this point, I wouldn't trust it as a carry or defense weapon.

Hold off and spend a little more on the tried, tested and never bested SIG Sauer P229. If you can, try to shoot them side by side. IMHO the P229 is more accurate and certainly more reliable than the newer SIG Pros.

So many pistols, so little money.

Thanks for the replies I ended up getting a SIGPRO 2340 My dealer had a Law Enforcement Model 3 10 round mags 2 grips and cleaning kit for 515.00 Brand new. he was only suppose to sell to someone with a badge but he said I see you have a badge and I ofcourse said yea sure.. So I can pick it up next week cant wait!! Anyone know what is different about the pistol seeing it said law enforcement on the hard case in big silver letters he didn't really know and didnt pursue I was just glad to get it !!
Thanks

It may be an LE only because it has a DA only trigger group. If that is the case it is an easy drop in fix to go to DA/SA.

I believe that the LE package is usually a standard DA/SA pistol with three mags, the two grips and a blue plastic case instead of the standard grey plastic case, one grip, and two mags. I think most dealers call it the "Blue Line Special" or something like that. The extra mag and blue box are the only difference I can remember on the ones I have seen. That's a great price!!

I have a P229 in .40 that I was considering trading for a SP2340. I just can't make myself let this one go for a plastic one. I'd like to wring out a 2340, but I'm afraid I'd regret the crap out of that trade.
