SigPro 2340 Frame Nightmare's!!!!

Greetings To All, Tonight I inspected a co-worker's SigPro 2340, for the first time.
To our surprise, part of the polymer frame
(around the trigger guard) had a tiny piece
chipped out of it. Now, he swears and declares that he has not droped this weapon
at all; and he has only had it for approximately one month! As a matter of
fact, he was saving the gun for use in
law enforcement. He just got sworn in
as a LEO today; now he is frowning on
Sig firearms because of this problem?
Question is, What do you think the Sig
warranty repair department will do about
this? He needs the weapon by March 4th,
in order to "protect and serve". All
replies are welcome. :)

They'll replace the weapon, most likely, and probably well before he needs it. I must say though that I have been down on SIGs ever since attending the armorer's class. Yeah, they ARE accurate, and they ARE designed like a swiss watch, but they seem to be decidedly....fragile. And I HATE SIG Pros....I like being able to replace a spring without having to replace everything else in the assembly. And I still don't like customer service (excuse me while I foam at the mouth).

I'm not particularly impressed with the SigPros either, but I certainly wouldn't describe the P series pistols as "fragile". Been carrying and working on Sigs for ten years, and have been impressed with everything except finish.

I don't know about the SIG Pros, but if past experience with other SIG Arms products is any indication they'll move quickly to back their warranty.

I disagree that SIG Sauers are fragile. I personally know several people that have carried SIG Sauers in combat situations in Central and South America and their pistols have held up fine. As well there are thousands of LEOs and military here in the US that rely on SIG Sauer pistols and to the best of my knowledge they haven't been reports of their fragility. Finish wearing off quick? Yes. Earlier P226s and P220s having problems with frame carcking? Yes. Fragile? No.

So many pistols, so little money.

I'm not a fan of the PRO series, either, but I have a P239 in 9mm, and I would put it up against anything else out there as far as sturdiness goes. I'm not an LEO, but I've put just short of 6,000 rounds through mine after buying it slightly used 2 1/2 years ago. It's still tight as a drum, and goes "BANG" every time I ask it to.

In my opinion, your buddy made a bad choice in model, not manufacturer. Tell him to get a 228 or 229, and he'll never have another problem. (Except affording the ammo to shoot all the time! ;))

I'am sure that Sig will replace the frame.
Probably some defect in the casting. I've carried one everyday for about 9 months now
and it has done everything expected of it.
One bad gun does not make a bad model or manufacturer. I've dropped it, used it as an
instructor gun, qualified with it, even shot
a bulleseye course with it ( that was fun)
and it still goes strong. While there's not much one can do to the gun we havn't needed to yet and as far as armorer support goes
it does not leave you much to do.
