I handles one in good condition at gun store (ive seen a couple before but they had scopes). Shouldered it, and....couldnt get a sight picture. I hear people rave about this rifles accuracy. Honestly i dont know if i could hit a target the size of trump's ego. I dont know if its that tiny u shape or how my eyes focus but yeah it was awful. Why is this?

Are you sure it's the sights and not your eyes? :->

If you can't shoot a K-31 accurately, time to find a new hobby.

Like other milsurp sights, they're made for minute of man accuracy at long distance. But the K-31 is very accurate so until you try it, don't knock it. I was pleasantly surprised when I first shot mine. My line of thinking was same as yours but the groupings (with GP11 ammo and reloads) changed my mind. Then I decided to scope mine and never looked back.

But first, go visit your optometrist for a checkup and then join the K31 bandwagon.

my vision is 20/15 and hae no problems with mausers, mosins, and othe rmil surps, thats why the k31 surprised me.

IMO, there is no way the Mauser (Yugo 24/47) sights are better. That has got to be one of the worst to aim with due to the depth of the "V" on the rear sight.

There aren't too many notch and post sights that are all that wonderful.

You can get diopter sights if you want to stay with irons as well as scope mounts that bolt on (to avoid altering the rifle) and ones that require drilling and tapping.

I have a bolt on scope mount on one of my K-31s. The thing is just stupid accurate, especially when you consider this is a milsurp.

I like oddball gns and the straight pull is nice, i also want a bigger meaner rifle for when i hunt. But, price is an issue so milsurps it is. Still searching.....

My 2 K31's are the most accurate rifles I own. While not the best open sights, they are no worse than most mausers, mosins or any other milsurp. I prefer peep sights but I keep my groups within 1-2" of where I am aiming at 100 yards with the K31.

You can get several different rear sights for the K-31. They normally offer finer adjustments and a improved sight picture.

These offer a improved notch on the rear and can still be difficult to focus.

Mojo offers a rear peep for the K-31

This photo shows one on my M124/47 but they are the same style. Add the Mojo peep to the front and you have dual aperture sight system than does not require you to focus on ether sight.

The Mojo is equipped with different size peep inserts so you can dial it in to your preferences.

Another choice is the SP clamp on scope mount. Rock Solid offers a drill and tap mount if you are so inclined.

Then there's the sniper version of the K31, the ZFK.

SPUSCG, I'm not a great open sight shot yet, but I have no trouble with the k31 sights at 100 yards. It gets even easier at 200 yards. I mean the sight picture with the right target.

We have something like 6 of two versions of that little fine adjustor. I use it a lot, but it helps to have to front part of the system too. One of them works with issue front sights but I can't remember which one.

I also have problems with the rear sight and I also have 20/15 vision. I see a double picture of the sight. I just have to focus on the bottom one. Its the only rifle that I have problems with, but I can still shoot it accurately.

This really doesn't help in any way, but some people do find the G1911 a much better shooter for the reasons already mentioned.
