I have a new Winchester Trails End edition 94 with the octagon barrel in 44 Mag. I bought this rifle about a year ago and have only put a box of shells through it, but had yet to put any shots on paper until today.
I was out today enjoying the warm weather doing some shooting with the 94 and noticed while shooting from rest bags I cannot adjust the rear sight any further in order to get the rifle to hit in the X ring. It is as low as it can go besides removing the adjuster ramp completely. When shooting, I'm holding the X ring completely above the sights and my hits are about 2" high at 25 yards. I tried putting the bead on the front sight as deep into the rear sight notch so that it was almost covered by the lowest part of the notch and my hits fell to the top edge of the X ring. I get confused on open sight movement results, I think I've got this right. Move the rear sight down and point of impact should go down. Correct?
Does this mean I might need a taller front sight?
Thanks
E.
