Firesights

I got a set of the Williams "Firesights" for my slug barrel, but I lost my darn elevation slide, so I have not been able to install. They have the red front, and the green dots on the rear, that glow in ambient light. Looks like they will be pretty nice, I have them on a 22 rifle. And they are not terribly expensive if you decide to remove them later.

The express sights look nice, but I think I'll take a lighted forearm over the night sights for low/no light shooting.

As for day time stuff, I have the Williams Firesights on my Marlin .45Colt and like them a lot. In low light they are easy to see. In sunlight it's very quick. I will likely go that way.

In the past year I have fired pretty right around 500 Winchester 1 oz 12 gauge slugs both in practice and during two defensive shotgun classes at both Frontsight and Gunsite. I used two shotguns during the classes, one with ghost ring sights and one with a factory Remington barrel with factory Remington sights. I much prefer the factory Remington sights. I realize they arn't expensive, they arn't hyped, they arn't written up in magazine articles: but I prefer them anyway.

I much prefer the factory Remington sights.

If you are talking about the factory rifle sights, I agree. I have several 20" Factory rifle-sighted barrels and I really dig 'em.
I do have a set of Xpress (were Ashley Outdoors when I bought them) sights on these barrels though. The one's I have are the big dot up front and the shallow V in the back. A couple are radioactive as well. They simply replace the factory sights. I found that this was the best all-around setup for me. The aquisition is really fast and I can also take my time and use them like rifle sights. I think that ghost-rings (or peeps) are slower and only slightly (if at all) more accurate.
