Sighting in rear sigh?

I have a magpul flip up rear sight on my Ar-15. But when i took it out shooting yesterday it was way off. It was good left and right but it was about 25 feet high at 100 yards. Is there anyway to bring that down?

Chances are that the fixed front sight base is meant to be used with A2 carry handle receiver, not a flat top receiver. The front sight base for use with a flat top receiver is slightly taller and typically has a "F" marking on it.

The inexpensive fix is to install a taller front sight post such as the one linked below. Extended front sight post

As a standard rule:

Foresight adjust into the error & Rearsight away from the error.

What it means is if you are shooting high, adjust the foresight upwards which brings the group down to your point of aim.

On the rearsight, if you are high then adjust the sight downward.

It's usual that your foresight is adjustable for elevation, where lateral adjustment is done on the rearsight.

You probably are not going to get that much out of the equation

I got a mis matched set of iron sights for an XCR. After all was said and done, I likely had a sight that went on a gas block, not the rail the XCR has.

As it was a cheap front sight (what more do you need for BUIS?) I carved down the whole site, shortened the post and then carved some more. Once I got it close I got it tuned in and then ran a set screw through the side to hold it (spring detent long gone).

More better to get the right front sight for anything halfway good (Magpul is halfway good).
