Sighting in a 9mm semi auto

What is the ideal distance to sight in my 9mm semi auto. Its a sw99 with a 4 1/8 inch barrel. I don't intend to carry it. I intend to do a lot of target shooting but I am new to semi auto's. I was thinking 50 feet but I figured I'll get the experts on TFL to give me the final answer.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. BTW I bought this gun before the Klinton fiasco hit s&w. I love the gun, too bad I won't purchase anymore of their products.
Thanks,
Jeepster

I generally sight in for windage and leave elevation be for combat guns (unless it is off by a foot or so at 7-10m).

I was told that 25 yards (75 feet) was standard.
I got this from Wayne Novak... they said 25 yards unless specified otherwise.

I would go with 25 yards. My preagreement SW99 will soon be sent back for reconfiguring. It shoots about 3" low at 25, and even 10 yards! That is after switching to the lowest front sight.

They said no problem, Include two used targets and they will match a barrel that will make it shoot higher in the vise to match how far I am shooting low.

Make sure you initially use sand bags. The factory said it is sighted in at 15 yards at the factory.

Great gun- it will probably now be the prefered choice for LEO's due to politics. I can see it now. Glocks being switched for SW99's!

I sight all my guns starting at 50 feet.
After your getting a good group, move to 25 yards. Also move in and check them at 21 Feet. and at 10 feet.
This way your sure that they shoot good close up If you need that Special shot.

Hope this Helps
