A rather tech question, someone probably knows by experience.
Will a dove tail cut sight for a Colt 1911 3" officer model, fit a Colt defender? I don't want to order and find out the wont. I ordered some that said they would fit a Kimber or Colt officer model, but the front sight will hang over the slide in the front. I did not mount them. Thinking I need to go to my gunsmith, tell him what I want and let him make it happen. More expensive way, but whata ye goin do. What say you? Anyone know about the fit?
 
Well, the 3/8" slot on all guns is pretty much standard in the US. Here's the problem swapping sights on a handgun. The height of the front sight will be different with different barrel lengths. You need the correct height sight for your gun. Call Brownell's up and talk to them. They'll set you up with the correct sight for your gun. If you put the wrong height sight on the gun you'll be hitting way too high or way too low. Ask them, they're the experts who have the knowledge and the parts.
