Sight Paint (revolver)

This could probably go on another forum, but since I only own revolvers now maybe it can go here. I'm looking for an epoxy, two part, flat black, solvent proof paint suitable for touching up the sights on revolvers. The spray-can polyurethanes rinse off. Automotive epoxy types have a one quart minimum and with the hardeners and additives would run about $25 or so. Not to mention, I'd have enough to paint my sights for the next 200 years. I checked my Midway catalog and didn't find any. Somebody makes some little bottles of epoxy. Any ideas?

I haven't tried any of the "purpose designed" sight paint yet, But I colored my front sight red with a sharpie. I don't know how long it's going to last, but it does show up pretty well and gives me a fast sight picture, which is all I'm after. I just did the back part you see, not the sides or front. An ex-cop I work with says he used nailpolish, and it held up very well.

the original post was for flat black... I might would try finger nail polish.. but if you are a guy (just assuming) they might look at you funny at the cosmetics counter.. especially if you are asking for flat black. but Halloween is coming up.

I like white on my front sight and use an old bottle of white out... but now that I've thought of the finger nail polish thing will probably switch.. just think of all the different colors one could choose from or have on hand? Much better paint than white out too.

Now that I think on it for a minute, nail polish is probably quite tough. My sister says the nail polish she uses only comes off with acetone, so that would probably resist Hoppes #9 and electronic parts cleaner. And with Halloween coming up I had better stock up on a couple of bottles. Thanks for the tip. The paint pen looks like it would work too. But the nail polish would be easier to apply if I decide I want to paint my nails. That sure would impress the guys down at the gun shop. ;)

I see a few folks using nail polish for sight paint. What about model car paint? $0.88 a bottle, any color you could possibly want, and no one to look at you funny when you buy it! :) Just tryin' to help.

Maybe when I'm picking up my nail polish I can get some special lotion to soothe the roughness that I sometimes get from the checkered walnut grips and those big magnum bullets. Which reminds me, I saw the cutest gun at the pistol boutique the other day. A Lady Smith with pearl grips with a rose on each side. I just couldn't take my eyes off them, they were so pretty.
