Sight acquisition on the Colt SAA.

Just picked up my first ever Colt SAA, a 1974 Peacemaker .22.

While sighting it around the house I discovered that short of having Eagle vision there is no way to get a front sight picture within the rear sight with perfect alignment.

What gives here? I'll be shooting it in the next few days and maybe the question will disapear in the process but I'd appreciate feedback from those in the know.

There is a possibility that the front sight is clocked. It may be mounted off towards 11 O'clock or 1 O'clock. This can be fixed by a gunsmith turning the barrel or realigning the front sight. The other solution as far as the rear sight window is to file it wider and deeper. If your 22 is a shooter, go for it.

Thanks William for the good suggestions.

Next week we'll know if this is a shooter.

What is it about the Pacemakers that makes them irresistible to so many? I'm not a western buff but I really enjoy handling this gun.

I think it is the Hopalong complex. I always enjoyed those shows. I have been shooting CAS for years and I enjoy the being with other retro oddballs.
