SIGARMS Customer Service - Hammerli Trailside

In December, I purchased used an early production, plainjane, plastic grip, fixed sight Trailside. From day one this pistol exhibited failure to battery and failure to feed malfunctions.

You all may recall that TFLers attending the SHOT Show reported that SIGARMS was aware of these problems and would make right any pistols that malfunctioned in the field. Therefore, I sent my Trailside back to them in January.

Yesterday I received a parcel from SIGARMS containing a new Trailside. Even better, the replacement is the target model with adjustable sights and laminated grip. There was no charge for the replacement.

Kudos to SIGARMS - this is the best customer support I have experienced in any industry.

Please let us know how the new Trailside shoots. If it's not any better than the old one, I won't be very impressed by SIG's service!

Whether the new Trailside shoots better or not is a corollary not a direct issue. The fact is that SIG Arms sent a more expensive model to make up for a poor performing pistol. I too have nothing but praise for SIG Arms' service.

So many pistols, so little money.

Glad to hear that they treated you so well. I hope that policy makers at other companies learn from this. Sure, Sig might have lost some short term profit when they replaced the trailside with a target model. But, we can only imagine the long term results once the word gets around about their policy. I can't say that the company has always responded like this in the past, but they've learned over time by the sounds of it.

Congratulations on your new buy! Have fun shootin'........

Matt VDW, I will take it to the range with an ammo assortment this weekend and report back on Monday. The target cutout enclosed with the pistol has a respectable group.

EQUALIZER, I agree. When I get service like this, I make it a point to tell others and to favor the vendor. There will always be a SIGARMS product in my safe - when I'm not wearing it as gato repellent.

<when I'm not wearing it as gato repellent>

"Gato?" Excuse my spanish, its been 18 yrs since I took the class, but doesn't that mean "cat?" OR Are you refering to the critter that's running around loose in my house right now....gato-r?

I'm guessing that its "cat", Sylvester to be more specific. [Insert animation of Mexican mouse w/ten gal. hat, sombrerro, and a huge smoking revolver pointed at a powder burned preditory feline, here.]

I tested the Trailside Sunday with 150 rounds of various manufacture. The pistol exhibited no failures of any sort, and I found one or two promising loads.

EQUALIZER, yes, gato means cat. A gato grosso is a big cat, like the one that tried to pick me up once...
