Was the Sig X-Five Competition discontinued. I don't see much about them out there anymore. This is the X-Five that doesn't have the adjustable trigger.

It's still on the SIG website, showing a DA/SA version, but if you download the PDF, it says SAO. Heavy gun -- all steel.

I had a 226-X5 Competition in .40 for a while, and it was SAO. Nice enough gun, but mine was badly oversprung -- and SIG wasn't willing to do much except to send me a lighter recoil spring. Racking the slide almost required a bumper jack.

I traded it to someone who did his own gunsmithing, and shot a lot of USPSA. He worked on the springs, used it for a while, but eventually sold it.

I've only heard raves about the 9mm versions -- never heard much about the .40s.

Sounds like Sig didn't change the design to delay the unlocking of the breech of the 40 and did so by recoil spring only. Maybe because the market of the 40 is largely a US thing.

I think changing the delay of the slide/barrel union by having it move more before unlocking is very doable compared to a linked barrel design of the 1911.
