SIG with interchangeable caliber?

I met a fellow on the range yesterday who let me shoot his SIG for a bit. He showed me a set of barrels he had for it that let him fire a variety of different calibers ( 9mm, .357, .38,and .40, IIRC.) In a state where handgun purchasers are systematically humiliated, this is a major advantage.

Do all SIGs do this, or just some of them, and if so which ones?

Thanx,

SIG P-229, P-239 and SIGpro 2340 are both capable of switching back and forth between .40 and .357SIG.

Sig P226, P229, SP2340, and P239 are capable of switching between 40SW/357Sig and 9mm (aftermarket barrel).
Magazines will fit and feed as well.

Bar Sto is reportly working on a 9mm barrel for the 2340 to start shipping by the the end of this month. I do not believe it is being advertised on their website, but appparently several phone calls and emails have been answered with that information. Many folks are anxiously awaiting for it to start shipping. Check out Sig Forum where several folks are keeping track of this.

Edited to fix link.

All SIG's originally manufactured in .40 cal can be converted to .357 SIG and vice versa; SIG designed these models to do that, and they sell the conversion barrels themselves. Except for the P239 the same mags can be used with either cartridge. IIRC the .40 and .357 mags for the P239 are slightly different. No 9mm version of any SIG model can be converted to .40 or .357 SIG, even if it has the solid stainless steel slide.

Most models originally sold in .40 cal or .357 SIG can be converted to 9mm Parabellum with a barrel from BarSto Precision Machine, although SIG does not recommend it. If they were comfortable with the conversion, they'd probably make it themselves. That said, I have such a barrel for my P229 and it shoots great. No one else makes such a conversion barrel AFAIK. At least for the P226 and P229 the factory .40/.357 10-round mags will reliable hold and feed 13 rounds of 9mm.
