Sig Trailside .22

I was at the gun store the other day and saw a Sig Arms 22 Trailside. It was a hell of a nice 22 auto, 6 inch barrel, adjustable sights, and beautiful blue laminated grips. I was wondering if anybody had one, and what they thought of it. I am thinking of getting one, but are they worth $450.00?

The grips are nice, aren't they? :D

I have a Trailside with a 4" barrel. It is phenomenally accurate. With little effort, I can keep 10 rounds within a 2" Shoot N-C target at 25 yards. That might be a trivial feat for some, but for me that is durn good. :p The scope rail makes the addition of a scope/red dot sight a snap (I put a red dot sight on mine).

The gun spent about 6 months are Sig because of a magazine insertion problem , but they finally got it back to me in top form. It cycles best with high velocity ammo. My Trailside prefers cheap American Eagle high-velocity ammo.

I'll not part with mine. Even on bad days, when my groupings with centerfire pistols couldn't be covered with pie pans, I get a "one ragged hole" ego boost from my Trailside.

I went to my favorite shop intending to buy a Marlin guide fifle in 45/70, saw the Sig and just had to have it. It has the sweetist factory trigger I have ever shot, plus it is so pretty. If you can afford to buy a gun just for fun or shooting squierlls go for it.

I have one of the Trailsides with the 4" bbl, fixed sights and rubber grips. The grips were ugly and didn't fit almost to the point of being unusable. I made a set of grips out of some walnut and love it.

I'll never get rid of it and it's my "always" pistol. I always take it along to the range no matter why I'm going and pop a few .22s for fun.

I'd love to get one of these, but have stayed away due to all the negatives in quality and operation I've read. Have they fixed these issues? Thanks.

I've had one of the 4" Trailsides for a number of months now and have put between 3 and 4k rounds through it. I haven't had one problem with the pistol. It can be somewhat fickel regarding the rounds it likes. I find that it is extremely accurate and quite enjoyable to shoot. Like NapAttack, this pistol always finds it way into my range bag.:p

That is a good price for that model, they were $499 at the Dallas Market Hall gun show today. If you want to see how good that particular gun is ask to see the Hammerli hang tag. Flip the tag over and you will see the test target mounted in the hang tag. The accuracy is from using a Hammerli barrel and the group is fired from 25 meters. If you can cover the entire group with a dime then you have an average gun. The bad ones require a nickel to cover the group and the best I have seen you could not push a green pea through the single hole it made. It is one of the best .22 target pistols for the money you can buy. I like it better than the S&W mod 41, it is surely more accurate.
