SIG to Sell Arms Division

This just came over the wire at SIG-L, and I quote:

"An international correspondent of mine, Bernhard Aeppli, an officer in the Swiss Militia, tells me that local papers report that SIG is selling the Arms Division. Sorry, no further details available now, but I will try to get more information from him in the morning."

If anyone hears anything, please pass it on.

In the memo, they say "dispose of SIGarms" but they later talk about simply reorganizing it into three divisions, Hunting & Target Shooting, Pistols, and Special Arms/Barrels. If that's the case, then this wouldn't really affect production or marketing of Sig handguns, but rather make an internal change to accounting, etc. A streamlining of the business, but not really a change visible to consumers. With all of the lucrative law enforcement and military contracts they've got, I can't (don't wanna either) imagine that SIG would stop producing pistols, or sell the name. I could be wrong though. It will be interesting to hear what happens.
