Sig Slides

In doing research on an upcoming project, I was looking at the various Sig models. I like the looks of the Two-Tone 239, but have a question. Is the slide on the Two-Tone a nickel plated stainless slide? I know all the 239 slides are stainless, but then they nickel plate it? Just curious.

This link is a recent one discussing all this. My answer (and I have one, a p226) is I don't know, but I'm watching very carefully.

What you won't find out from the thread is that there are other parts on the two-tone pistols that are nickle-plated. Those parts are carbon steel and wouldn't be made from stainless for a variety of reasons.

The two-tone P239 is nickel plated. FWIW, my Trailside slide was nickel plated and pealed. SIG replaced it (it took 8 weeks though). The new slide has not peeled over hundreds of rounds.

The P230/232 stainless is NOT nickel plated, it is bare, polished stainless steel.
