Sig Sights

What does everyone think about the factory sights put on Sig pistols. are they good are they better then trditional three dot what is your opinion?

I prefer the Sig Bar-Dot to the traditional 3-dot.
I have a Sig 225 and a Beretta 92-variant and am able to acquire my sight pic much quicker with the Sig.

Thumbs UP for SIG's Factory Sights

I like the factory sights on my P229/.40 better than any three-dot daylight combination I've used. I also prefer them to the white "U" style rear sight marking. Front sight acquisition is rapid, and as the rear sight comes into final alignment, there is less distraction. The single, centered bar (actually more of a square) draws the shooter's attention immediately to the center of the rear sight. I found with three-dot systems that my eyes had a tendency to wander back and forth between the two rear sight dots, especially when I was becoming fatigued.

I too, like Sig's bar-dot combination. Recently had the opportunity to examine a P220 that had the
High-Viz front sight. If I ever decide to change
front sight's, I may go this route?

SIG bar-dot is faster than three-dot.:D

Unfortunately, most tritium sights are three dot!

I had to settle for Novak horizontal bar-dot combination on my 1911. Better than three dot but I'd much prefer a "dot the I" vertical bar dot configuration.

8200 rpm:

How do you like the Novak bar dot combo? I have been thinking about changing my sig nite sights on my 239 and have come down to either Novak bar/dot or the Heinie straight eights. I have seen the Heinie sites and they are very nice, but I have no experience with the Novak's. Do you think that they were worth the money considering the lack of options comparable to the stock bar/dot Sig sights?

CReynolds:

The Novak bar-dot tritium sights on my Kimber Custom Classic are far better than the stock plain black iron sights. Under low light, there is no confusing the front rear sight alignment unlike 3-dot systems (especially same-color tritium ones).

The only gripe I have with the Novak bar-dot, as with most tritium sights, is that in day light the front dot is just not as easy to see as a painted fat white dot like the ones found on SIGs. But unfortunately, the standard SIG bar-dots are not tritium.

Ashley Outdoors has a big tritium dot front dot worth looking into.

Looks like I am the dissenter here. The Sig Bar-Dot sights are difficult for me to focus on for some reason, and for that reason I dont like them.

But I am not a big fan of 3 dots either.

The only sight that really matters in a pinch is the front sight anyway.

The bar-got sight for me gives the quickest sight picture possible. Having said that, the rear sight on my P239 had the bar painted slightly to the left of center so if I used the sights as though they were just black, the gun was right on but if I used the dot sitting on top of the bar, the gun shot to the left about 2" at 15 yards. Very frustrating. I ended up painting out the white bar with a black permanent marker and got rid of that problem but ended up missing the the bar. Probably could have talked to SIG and got a new rear sight but got rid of the gun because I couldn't stand the weak trigger return spring and the long reset. It was very nice in every other aspect though. I actually miss the gun now. As I miss the other dozens of good ones I got rid of for reasons I'm sure were good at the time but now not remembered.
