OK, I have narrowed the search down to these two rifles in .308 with a Leupold Vari-X II 3X9 scope and would like to get input from the group. Please tell me the pros and cons of each of these rifles or any other experiences you have had with them. Please, no other rifle suggestions. Thanks.

Ummm your kidding right?

What is the problem here? Unless money is a major factor get the SIG. People will try to tell you that Savages are great but realistically if all things are equal and money isn't a problem get the SIG> better fit and finish. Both will shoot well...

Definitely go with the SIG. A friend of mine has one in 30-06 and it is a consistant sub-moa shooter. It is a very well made rifle.

One of the main advantages of the SIG over the Savage is the SIG's switch barrel capability. All you need to do to change calibers or accomodate a compact storage area is loosen 2 screws and the barrel will pull right out of the receiver. The bolt locks into the barrel itself so you don't have to worry about headspace problems.

Get the SIG---the Savage isn't in the same league---although it is a respectable rifle. The other annoying thing about Savages is the little block at the rear if the bolt--that always manages to turn one way or another and bind up the bolt----I can't believe they haven't fixed that yet---after all these years.

That little block is the only reason I have never bought a Savage and probably never will-----unless they fix it.

Well, my Savages are nice and reliable, and quite accurate. The barrel is ALMOST as easy to change (screw it in with a headspace gauge, and tighten the lock nut), and one heckuva lot cheaper to buy extras of...

I will admit that they aren't as accurate as my $2,000 6PPC Panda, but hey...

Let's see here, one rifle that "might" be a tiny bit better, or FIVE rifles.......

RIGHT! Savage wins! Europe discovers the thorn that Savage is to Winchester and Remington! :D

Savage and Marlin! Making truth available at a reasonable cost for 100+ Years! :D

A tiny bit better?

Now you are kidding right? Have u even handled a SHR, Zorro? The 10 and 110 series guns are fine for people on a budget but realistically they are mediocre rifles at best. They are decent shooters but straight out of the box they lack a number of decent features that would escalate them into a higher price range.
1.) A good trigger - A majority of Savages come with a crappy trigger pull of over 6 lbs and they can't be safely adjusted down past 3.5 lbs! The fit and finish of this critical area is a joke - it looks like some ham-fisted gorilla manufactured it.
2.) A good stock - This is where Savage saves most of its money. Factory Savage stocks are garbage PERIOD. This probably the most upgraded item on a Savage, considering that a decent stock can run up to 4-500 bucks, what is the point of buying a rifle that will cost you some extra money to make it enjoyable to shoot.
3.) A good overall fit and finish - The bolts on the Savages are clunky and not very user friendly to shooters. The rifle looks crudely made and does not "feel" good to shoot. Adjustable headspace is a nice option but not one that many people can take advantage of unless they are gunsmiths.

I have no problem with Savage but I would not even try to compare it to a more finely crafted rifle. No more than I would compare an Ford Escort to a Mercedes - they both can take you from A to B but one will be definitely be a smoother ride and will probably be infinitely more enjoyable.

Sounds like the Sig may be better, but the Savage 10FP was my choice after much research. It's been flawless. I liked the thin stock with the thick barrel. Just handles better for me and makes a hole exactly where it's aimed. The bolt lacks the smooth action of some of the others, but seems to be breaking in. I'm not sure that it matters that much as the bullets end up in the right place.
Your choice of scope is a very clean and simple choice (which is good). Just in case you were wondering, I went with the Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10 Tactical M1 LR which works real well.
The Savage is my only bolt action and I feel no need for any other.
