Sig SHR-970 vs. model 70 and 700

I was comparing the Sigarms SHR-970 in 30-06 to the Winchester 70 and Remington 700 ADL/BDL at the gunshop. I am still learning. However, the Sig looked to me to be a much better gun. Does anyone have experience or comments on the Sig? Also, what is the main difference between the ADL and BDL?

Thanks.

I have no experience with the Sig however the difference between the remingtons is that the BDL has a hinged floorplate for the magazine. The release is located on the inside front of the triggergaurd. The ADL does not have this.

I have a Remington 700 ADL in 7 mm mag and a Rem. Model 7 in .308 and like them both just fine but neither offers the versatility of switching barrels like the Sig does. Quality seems to be very good as well.

A friend of mine bought a Sig last year. It does not have the aesthetics of the model 70 but it is a hell of a rifle! He is a former Army sniper and 1000 yd. competitor and his standards are VERY high. He loves this rifle.
I handled it some and it exudes quality. The switch barrel is amazingly simple. It is very well thought out. I think that a heavy barrel 308 is coming out soon. (4 groove, 1 in 10 twist) If I were in the market the SIg would be my choice.

I recently purchased the SIGARMS SHR-970 in .30-06 and I like it so far. I put a Leupold Vari-X II 3-9X40 on it but I haven't had the chance to sight it in yet. The only thing I think is odd is the bolt is difficult to unlock after firing a round(also when I'm just cycling the bolt) Is this normal with new rifles? Maybe it just needs to be broken in or do I have a problem?
Thanks.

Also, in my area(So. Kali) the price on this rifle has gone up from $399.99 to $459.99 in less than 6 months...interesting.

I just had dinner with my friend tonight at his house. I examined his 970 some more and looked at some of the groups he has been shooting. Consistant 5/8" groups at 100 yds. I didn't ask what handload recipe he was using. He said these groups are fired with a 1 minute interval between shots and a warm barrel. He also said that he has done some rapid fire testing and that he has not seen any shot stringing with a hot barrel. He said that he has bolted the rifle as hard and as fast as he can in an attempt to get a failure to feed and with the exception of 1 short stroke (his fault) he could not induce a failure. The trigger is fully adjustable and his is a very crisp 3 lbs. with a tiny bit of overtravel. (barely noticable) He fabricated a cheek piece out of leather and PC7. The cheek weld is now perfect and instantly attainable. He has noted the tendancy to accidentally trip the saftey and plans to modify the safety lever to rectify this problem. He also encased the bolt knob with a black, hi temp silicon substance (found at automotive stores). This enlarges the knob and gives it a rubbery texture. The bolt is next to impossible to miss. He also gave it a spray painted camouflage job.
I am in lust. The rifle is still not beautiful but it fits me like it was made for me and from the groups he is showing me it shoots like a demon!
I think that after Thunder Ranch my 700P will be for sale along with my old push feed Model 70. I don't know if I will opt for a standard 970 in 30/06 with an extra 308 barrel (new heavy, fluted match barrel) or just go for the STR 970 right off the bat. We'll have to see........
