SIG Sauer P229: New CCW. Long term?

Hey, hope everyone is doing alright.

Just an FYI I went from having 47 handguns to just having 3 now.
Glock 41, SIG P229 & P226, both in 9mm.
My CCW is the P229. Anyone like this gun? Carry it? Anything to say about it?

It's been a really rough year and I've had to sell everything.. With the exception of the aforementioned handguns and a few AR's. The one's I've kept is because they're a bitch to find. I sold the 19 and the S&W 1911 this week. Broke my heart to sell those two. But the 1911 is a range gun for me and the Glock 19 is a dime a dozen, so no biggie.. When I'm back on my feet again I'll just buy another.

The SIG's are a P226 E2 and P229 Elite Dark. They're two guns that it's safe to say, I'm in love with.

Thread point: I feel okay.. I feel fine with this. I've always been the guy with the crazy gun collection. So it mentally took a bit to put on the mindset to sell off my guns to help keep my head above the water. I think I'm done though. I'll be keeping what I have now.

P226 and P229 is like the G17 and G19. Magazines interchange and such. Conceal carry both of them.. Actually, I even carry the 41. Reason I'm keeping the 41 is because it's my .45 Can't let that puppy go. Not to mention the plethora of .45acp Glock mags I have on top of the fact that it's my hunting sidearm.

So back to it.. I think when I do eventually get back on my feet again, I'll just stick to the P229 & P226.. I do want another Glock 19, Smith & Wesson 1911 and model 637, HK USP 45..and a few more. But I don't know. I may really ponder the use beforehand. Maybe I'll see just how well I'm doing...lol But still.. 47 handguns is a little crazy?

Oh well. Love my P229 Elite Dark, looks like I'm with it for the long haul since that "hmmm...what should I carry today?" question is withered down to a nub.

Sorry to hear of your troubles dude. At least what you're left with are some pretty nice options. They always say beware of the man with one gun.

Life will test your resolve but it won't break you. Somewhere along the line an opportunity will present itself for you to put everything back together and you will be stronger for it.

You will put together a better collection in the future, I am sure.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving.

When we had our first kid I had to get rid of most of my "man toys", and the second kind of stalled any plans to expand things.
I got used to it though.
They're just things. And, having to limit yourself really helps you distill what exactly it is you like/want.
For myself i wound up with my 19 and a trio of rugers (gp100, sp101, mk3). And since I've not found reasonable 22 in like 2 years the mk3 may as will be a paperweight.

Granted, I never had anything like the collection you did, but I've found I can do pretty much whatever I need/want with what I have now.

The right 3 handguns is enough to get by with. And you have three really sweet guns.

Hey dude. I'm a little jet lagged, so I may be spacing it out... but is there a question?

I like all of your choices.

I've been recently carrying my G21 again and just really like it.

The 229 is just so stinking easy to carry though.

229

The P229 is one of our issue guns, and came to be with the advent of the .40 S&W cal. The milled slide of the 229 handles the higher pressure of the .40 better than the previous stamped versions (228 , 226 , 220).

The family feels good in the hand. The guns are very accurate, I suspect tolerances must be very high. (tight gun = accurate gun?) Reliability and durability is high, seen few (if any) broken parts over the course of caring for 10-12 handguns as district armorer.

My friend has an early 229 9mm. I'm not a big fan of Sigs, but this one was a real gem. Hand filling grip and the gun really soaked up recoil. I would definitely choose it over a G19.

I have had a 229 9mm for many years. For a long, long time it was my EDC. It's hard to believe but I stopped counting rounds through it somewhere around the 30,000 round mark! Yeah I know. A lot of shooting. I have just used lube on the rails and barrel. Oil on other spots. Kept my springs changed at regular intervals. And it still runs like a champ
It rattles now when you shake it. But it hasn't seemd to effect accuracy. It still will shoot the eye out of a hostage target if you can do it. I put the E2 grips on mine. It runs great on the Mec Gar 15 round mags. One of the best guns I've ever owned. Don't know if they are still making them that good. But hope so. Sorry you're down right now man. Hope things get better soon.
