SIG P245?

I currently own and carry a Ruger P97. I have been drooling over a P245 for a while now but going from 8+1 to 6+1 is uncomfortable for me right now. I guess I need to know if this is worth the trade. Wish I could keep both but gotta keep the wife happy to. Please reply if you have experience with the P245.

The SIG P-245 is a fine gun, but several folks I know who have (or had) them didn't like the shorter grip -- and the reduced capacity. And it just isn't THAT MUCH smaller than a P-220. Be sure to try one before you buy.

For my money, the gun you've got is pretty damned good. One guy with whom I shoot IDPA consistently outshoots fellas using SIG P220s, so I know the P-97 is accurate enough.

If I were you, I'd spend a few bucks on first class trigger job and maybe some more on night sights, and just keep it -- and forget the P-245.

(Don't do like I did, and let the mystique and snob appeal of SIGS lure you into doing something you'll later regret.)

I've had a P-239, P-220 and P-210. I still have the P-210.

SIGS are great guns, but I don't like the DA/SA transition of the 22X series and the 239. (I don't have a problem with the transition with my CZ-75B.)

Thanks for your honesty. I personally love my P97 but I guess I'm falling in to the Sig mistique. Coincidentally I am getting some PT night sites today.

The shorter grip on the P239 and P245 is why they aren't selling.

They are top heavy and the gun naturally wants to point down not straight out in front of you.

I'll keep my P226 though.

Hey leedesert; Make sure you try A Sig P220A; before you decide on the P245. As Walt said,
the 245 isn't that much smaller than the 220;
and you can conceal it just as easily. :D

Must be a regional thing. In my neck of the woods the local shops cannot get enough P239s and P245s. Folks don't seem to mind paying some pretty outrageous prices for these pistols. Try before you buy, you might find that they fit you well.

So many pistols, so little money.

Thanks guy's,
Through your suggestions I have decided to stick with my P97. Night sites are coming and as of now I am very happy with it's accuracy and balance. I guess I had a case of the grass is greener. I'll stick to shooting OPG's at the range (Other Peoples Gun's).

I think the 245 is the best idea sig has had in a long time , a down sized 220, who could ask for more .In my area they are hard to get and very desirable. It seem that every time a great idea comes along someone always wants to cut it down. I own and have shot a 245 quite a lot. 90% of the people complaining about this gu have never owned or shot on. The grip is a little short but .....this is a single stack compact pistol. also consider resale value.and what you want..to me these are the most important aspects . NOT SOMEONE ELSES OPINION....
