My dad owns a p238 and so do I. I notice when I pick up the gun it rattles and put it in my pocket. If I titlt it up and down it rattles. Doesn't happen when a round isn't in the chamber. Almost like the extractor is loose?
I just shot it the other day and always had this sound from day one, never s problem shooting it.
My dads sig doesn't do this.

I tried to rattle it with my thumb on the slide and barrel pressed but sound still happens (dummy round )

Does it rattle when its cocked ? or just when the trigger is pulled? Most likely its the connector and parts moving. Thats normal.

Check if the magazine rattles. My Tristar has a rattle like you describe and I traced it to the magazine. When I rack a round into the chamber the next round is slightly forward in the magazine and one of the rounds underneath has some wiggle room for some reason. Doesn't affect anything that I am aware of.

No its not the magazine, I just place a single round in the chamber drop the magazine and rattles. Yes the hammer is cocked with safety on.

My mistake, its not so much as a rattle, but a click/pop sounding?

If you point it up and down it will click/pop. like the firing pin is jiggling around but its not the firing pin because it doesnt happen when theres no round in the chamber. Its something sliding up and down.

I can say that my 238HD does not rattle at all with the mag out and one in the tube, cocked and locked.

I would start taking off parts and trying to figure out what is loose. My guess would be the extractor is a bit weak and the round is rattling.
