Hey Ya'll,
So I finally broke down and got SWMBO'S rainbow P238. I have heard about that dang gun for quite a while lol. So as of yesterday she is the proud owner of one phsycadelic little pistolis. [emoji2]. I have to say it's a very nice little gun, points well, and feels good in the hand. My question is how will that finish hold up? The wife wants to carry it of course. Any other issues with these little Sig's? We will be headed to the range with it at some point today.

I thought it was some sort of nitride finish, though I base that only on my "gold" knife also being available in rainbow.
I've carried that knife for years, and there's not a mark on it.

I googled "rainbow nitride finish", and there's a pic of my knife.

Wow Rick, that looks exactly like the little Sig. I told her with a holster that is not kydex the finish will probably last a good while. We just got back from the range. The wife is in love and that is the sweetest shooting pocket gun I've ever pulled the trigger on. You could shoot it all day and it sure will put em in there. I was trying out my Brand new LCP II that I just got to replace my TCP also, and well the Sig is much more pleasant. But the LCP II shined for what it's intended for. Ruger has done a great job with that one.

I'm a fan of the P238, too. Not so much of the rainbow finish, but to each his own. As I have told here before, my wife picked the little Sig for her concealed carry pistol, and then had to get me one so I would leave hers alone. People don't believe how well it shoots. Glad you are happy with it, and good luck following my example of picking up a second one.

My gal has a p238, army green frame with the black rubber houge grips. I have a black p938 with the same grips.

Her p238 does not seem to eject properly ONLY when racking the slide to de-chamber. the round is pulled by the extractor but not pushed out by the ejector, but it functions fine when actually being shot. Hers has had no failures during fire, with a few hundred rounds..
MY p938 on the other hand took a hard break in to get it performing flawlessly. Great little carry guns, and enjoyable to shoot on the range.

When clearing the gun with the mag out, mine only ejects into the empty magwell. Maybe that's how they are...

Fantastic little gun.

yeah, same, its kind of weird and I dont like it but like I said, performs perfectly when firing.

My p938 ejects very well weather or not I am racking slide with or without mag, or firing.

I have three P238 pistols and the P938, each is super shooting and run flawlessly. All of mine have stainless slides and two are SAS ( Sig Anti Snag) with rounded corners and black anodized frames. I carry them in kydex holsters and have had no issues with wear, the rainbow finish may be more. Fragile, however. Although my Kimber Micro and the Colt Mustang are basically the same pistol the blackly little Sig has better sights and is often my choice over the other two. The P 938 is also in a class of it's own shooting 9 mm or .22 LR it is one fine carry or fun shooting pistol.

There are times when I think something is very interesting and special; but I would never want to own. The rainbow finished Sigs are in that category for me. I guess that is why they offer them in so many varieties, so that we can all find one that tickles our fancy.
